Anm I understanding correctly that in order to tighten the belts via the screw by the alternator I need to loosen all of the bolts you mentioned? BTW, your diagram came through in both posts, at least on my end.
Ok, please review the diagram again. You need to lose the one bolt and the other bolt is the tensioner itself, as you tighten and losen the bolt it actuates the arm.

If you can't do belts, you certainly would have hard time with an engine removal. It's OK to be a noob. First thing I did on my 900 was replace the belts and its a nice rite of passage.
