With these symptoms the very first thing to check is ALWAYS the alternator ground wire. Since it's a very, very, very, very common C900 problem and the easiest and cheapest repair it should always be the first consideration.If that little ground wire is no longer connected between the alternator case and the body or connected poorly the alternator will produce little or no voltage. The car will run on the battery which will slowly lose it's charge and eventually go entirely dead (except for maybe a small amount of chemical recharging overnight). The next thing to check is the alternator field wire connection. If those are both fine only then start looking at the expensive stuff.
