That's just it I can't fit a 'sawzall' blade in there as it's too wide. I tried to slip a thin hacksaw blade between the plastic and radiator to cut the screw, but it still doesn't have any clearance to move the blade.

Cutting the screw threads that already have past the radiator (facing the front of the car) doesn't do anything since there are threads stuck within the thickness of the radiator that I couldn't budge in the first place.

I don't see how taking the hood off will do anything and besides, I'm by myself and I'm not going to ask the wife to help with that.

That's why I was resigned to aftermarket fans. By the way, are there differences between the cooling and auxiliary fans? Will I look for two of the same; what would I look for? My cooling fan (right/passenger side) spins freely, but the auxiliary fan (left/driver's side) only moves as much as my hand moves it, but it doesn't hit anywhere in the 360 degrees of travel. I don't know if that' normal.
