Have you tightened the ground nut on the back of the cluster?

There is a very small ground nut on the back of the cluster near the temp gauge. IIRC its like a 6 mm. You can reach it through the speaker grill and can barely get to it with a box end wrench.

I've replaced both my speedometers in my 86 SPGs due to inop. odometers. I used speedometers from 1984. You just missed a 1984 instrument cluster on eBay for $71.

Removing the instrument cluster is not to bad if your careful and detailed. I'm always worried about 40 year old plastic parts.
