1) I know P1s are thought to be "too restrictive" by the hi-flo guys, but I missed the P1/Corvette talk.
2) I hope you traded the old truck & not something Swedish!
3) The OLS is factory-set for the type of oil (dino/syn) specified in the owner's manual. I don't know if it can be reset/flashed for the other type.
4) Well, after a couple of cases of RP 5W-30, you should be pretty close to OOW, no? This is what I was thinking about when I made the suggestion. Since the xW-end has no bearing on the spec other than cold start flow & cold engine mpg (&, by extension, fleet mpg for CAFE), a single grade change (from 30 to 40) is nothing. How many years was Saab still spec'ing 5W-30 semi syn in the manual after they announced the factory fill (since April '00) was 0W-40 syn? My '99 9³ is running wonderfully on M1 5W-40, even though it specs 5W-30 semi. The spec for your 9000 is 10W-30 dino, right? The same for my '90 C900, but it absolutely loved the M1 15W-50 I gave it (we'll see how well it likes the 0W-40!).
