I tapped into the rear speaker leads to get a source for my sub amp and box.
I found that the signal going to the HK tweeters are crossed over to block bass and the signal to the larger speakers have no mid or treble.
I assume that the stock amp is actally a multichannel unit with built in low pass and high pass crossovers ( ahead of its time just low power)
To acheive what you want you may be able to run one set of wires to the large cone and one to the tweets on the Kappa
I don't recommend this though as a 6x9 usually likes to see a full range signal with much of the mid / highs coming from the large cone and only the really high frequencies coming from the tweeters
If I was to upgrade to a new components I would toss the entire old system and start from scratch including a new deck, amps, wiring speakers etc.
for now I have added a 200watt kicker amp and 2 10 inch subs
that add some extra oomph to the stock system (I just wish I could get a bit more out of the HK mid/tweets)
