In my last message I wrote: "The original orange and purple shock part numbers have been discontinued and both have been superceded with one replacement, part XXXXX-899." This part is available from Eeuroparts and other vendors (look at their part numbers), and yes it is gas pressurized. My guess is that there was very little difference between the orange and purple banded shocks, and this one is probably a bit firmer so buyers feel that they are getting some value when they get new shocks.
Don't discount the tie rod ends completely at 140K. Yes, they last fairly long on a SAAB, but the ones on our Audi A4 were VERY worn at 80K, car wandered noticably, steering was loose. I already replaced the ones on my '94 CS at 130K with all front end wear parts as part of a rebuild.
