That's why there are warranties Posted by Ari [Email] (#2847) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Ari) on Tue, 10 Jan 2006 08:06:00 In Reply to: Re: Purchase Advice Needed, saabnroark [Profile/Gallery] , Tue, 10 Jan 2006 07:44:41 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
The only cars that don't break come in boxes that say 'Tonka', and only if you keep them out of the hands of kids.
Failures can happen at any time, and at any mileage. We expect most failures to occur after a long time and high mileage. But stuff can break at any time - that is why a manufacturer offers a warranty - to handle those (hopefully) rare and unpredictable failures.
I haven't heard of any rash of transmission failures on the 9-5. Yes, it is unfortunate for the guy with the blown transmission. But I also expect that it is well under warranty and will be fixed at no cost. You can't ask for much more than that. A sample of one isn't statistically significant - of course, not unless you're the One. But if you have any questions, I assume you're asking the same questions over on the 9-5 BB.
