Two weeks ago I took an 02 Aero automatic for a test drive at the local dealership. What can I say- it's a "new" car, solid, stable, sharp. I wanted to see how new automatic tranny works out 260 hp. Maybe car had some problem (47K), but with boost needle going to the red I didn't feel that sweet punch like my previous 89T auto had. Sport mode was too jerky. Or maybe I didn't feel the speed?
I got back in my 95 9000 Aero (215K) 5-speed and it felt like I'm back home. Little worn suspension, very little rattles, but other than that- it picks up and goes faster and easier (for me, at least) then 9-5. I agree, 9-5's will be there, it will be my next car, but my 9000 is unigue, fast, still strong and I love it!
There are still some good 9000's out there. I bought mine from one mature owner with 199K, 2 inches thick book of records, all by the book, all parts OEM.
When I saw all that and the condition of the car, high mileage thought didn't even cross mine mind. It was the best purchase I ever made so far.
Sorry for the long post. Good luck with your decision!
Victor
