Its a sheep in wolves clothing. The easiest way to put it. I've been in a few bmw 3 series and driven them and they didn't have the feel that i wanted. NA engines are to drawn out for me, i wan't that punch and you only get that from big bore v8 or a porsche in my opinion. Part of the thing with the seats is that they were engineered in the 9000 to make your hip the relay point for all information to the car. Yes, this means your going to be sitting a little higher than what you want but it means your gonna be able to better judge if your at the limits of grip in a turn.

I personally don't see the issue with the shifter on the 9000, i think its pretty much perfect unless your a short person most likely. If your tall you got long arms and they reach perfectly. If the shifters posistion is that far off it is possible to get or make a shifter that sits at the right hight but then extends back to you. I've seen them like this but none in a saab.

Nothing will give you more pleasure than a 9k aero, or any aero from any model, from driving. The 9000 does need a few upgrades in anti sway bars and other suspension components to reduce the body roll. Those are cheap and inexpensive to do. I love the kick of the turbo and i will miss it when i step up to my next saab in life, hopefully a 9-3 ss convert since lots of good things from the new v6t, because as the software and technology gets better the lag is gone. I've never had a problem with it since the snap is addicting but most of all since it doesn't take that long to jump above 2500 rpms into the turbos operating range.

By no means though am i downplaying bmw but what is sport to one person in not always the same to another. I grew up on a saab 9000 and to me nothing has replaced its feel, every time i see a 9k aero i go play with it in my 9kcse, i lose every time but its fun. Sports cars are apples and oranges.
