Jim,
Thanks for your message. It does seem permanent. It started last week when I was driving around normally, it stalled on me a couple of times and I kind of thought, "wow, I didn't think I was THAT bad at driving a stick" and then later I started it and it was seemingly in LHM: ran really rough, shakes the whole car, weird response to gas pedal, idled low. Tried starting it later and same thing, then I had to go out of town so I didn't get a chance to take it in until Monday, but before I had it towed to the shop, I tried starting it again and same thing. When I pulled it out of my parking space in order to point the front end toward the tow truck, it stalled about 3 or 4 times.
I had a look at the vacuum lines for any obviously disconnected or rotting ones and didn't see any, but what do I know?
Anyway, I don't know what to think. I assume you're joking about loving TCS but if you want to buy my car, it may well be for sale in its pathetic, broken state within the next couple of days--I'll let you know. It is an awesome car, so fast and comfy, especially on the highway, but only when it's running...
