I own both a, '87 900T and '97 9000CSE anni. The 900 seems to have a more involved drive which is great fun, but for speed and everyday comfort the 9k is hard to argue with.
I agree with the suspension modification suggested by everyone else. I like my set-up of stock aero springs and Konis. Some relatively cheap additional wear-items that will help restore new car feel are tie-rod ends and ball joints as well as engine mounts (consider both lowers, transmission and the two uppers). As suggested check out superflex, powerflex or eeuro for some bushing options.
