Well, I think I'm with a lot of the other posters.
I just returned from a 500-mile weekend trip and I was reminded how much I like my 9000. I got about 30mpg (the computer said 32), it's comfortable, handles great, is fast enough for me (It's a 5-spd Aero), and was cheaper than any new car on the market... by a long ways.
There aren't a lot of cars that honestly get significantly better mileage. Most of those are significantly smaller and less fun to drive.
I guess I feel that owning my Saab has never been an exercise in frugality when compared to one of those "appliance" cars, but it's far less expensive than any new car. Mine is paid for. After purchasing the car for $7,400 a few years ago, I have a lot of "wiggle room" to keep it less than the price of a new car, not to mention a comparably-equipped new car.
I do most of the work on it myself, and like being able to do that.
Cheers,
~Peter
