When I purchased my 9K from another Saab dealer, it had 43K miles on it. Driving it home from the lot, it would bang when shifting into 2nd (this wasn't noticed when I test-drove it). Brought it in to my local Saab dealer and since it was still under warranty, they replaced it with a rebuilt one. That one continually leaked tranny fluid severely, and after a few attempts by them to fix it (it turned out to be the hole where the shift linkage enters the case was either made incorrectly or had a crack in it), they replaced that one with yet another rebuilt one. This was at 53K miles.

I now have 145K miles on the car, so that means 92K miles have been put on this rebuilt tranny. I had to replace the governor seals in it at 90K miles (meaning 37K miles was on the tranny).

I religiously flush and fill the fluid and change the filter every 12 - 15K miles. This means changing the fluid 3 times in a row to make sure all of the old fluid is out. I don't do jack-rabbit starts, and typically I shift the car manually when attempting to pass someone rather than pushing the gas pedal down and letting the tranny downshift on its own. I feel doing it my way puts less stress on the internals since the pressure won't be as high (the gas pedal isn't down as far). My car is also Stage 3, so the added boost from this set-up is another reason why I do these extra things with the tranny.

So far, I've not had any problems, even though I'm known to always push it hard when tempted (I just can't help myself :)).

This just lets you know that you just don't know. The one tranny the dealer put in was no good due to the leak, and the one I have now needed governor seals at 37K miles (which means they probably were never changed when the rebuild was done).

I'm hoping this tranny lasts forever.....
