I know you've driven a car or two and might have bumped into this, but it does happen: When front wheels are turned as you shut off car and pull key, they can jam the steering wheel against the tang that locks the steering. Sop things seemed jammed when you go to re-start.

Have you tried pulling hard on the steering wheel, one way or the other, as you try to turn the key? (Actually, pull in the direction the wheels are cocked, if they are in fact not straight ahead.)

Because the 9000 key works is really robust and actual jamming of the lockworks doesn't seem likely.

And, as I asked another poster with this same problem last week, are you SURE that key you're trying is the correct one for the car you're trying it on? Owners of multiple 9000s have to be careful.
