Are you sure the garage didn't maybe do something to cause this?
How does key look? They don't seem to wear at all where it would matter, from the several high-miles ones I've seen.
I'd try some lock-ease or other light lube, and hope the garage didn't force something and do some unfixable damage.
If you do see wear on the key that looks significant, and if you trust the cylinder itself to be fine, you might consider ordering a new key for the car, cut from the VIN number by a dealer. They have to order them from a central place that makes them. One poster said it's in NJ.
Or you can pull the lock cylinder - - there's a place you push in, after turning the key to a position I think between lock and on, do a search on here. Then cylinder pulls right out. You have to take off the black under-column cover to do this.
The cylinder has a key code number stamped on it.
If you switch to a used key cylinder you'll have to live with two separate sets of keys, one for doors and one for ignition. But that wouldn't be too bad if you have working doorlock fobs.
And for some real money you could get a locksmith to repin the new cylinder to match your old key.
