JEMSaab gave you good advice. With it and a little practice you should grow to appreciate the car. I must admit that the 9000 has about the heaviest clutch I have experienced in a sedan but maybe its good exercise. My significant other wrestled with the gears until I pointed out to her how the shifter is spring loaded so that shifting between 3rd and 4th takes only a gentle push straight up and down and the other gears take only a little push to the side. Before she would grab the shifter and hunt around for the pattern. I am assuming that your '94 behaves the same as my '98. My '94 was an automatic.
