Thanks for those tips.
Here is what I have gathered so far.
1. Don't rush shifting with the lever or the pedals.
2. Don't let the revs get too high in first or second.
3. Don't rest hand on shifter while driving or leave foot on clutch pedal depressed at stops.
4. I can ignore the upshift light.
In terms of revs, would you say the 9000 shifts at higher revs or lower revs than a small economy car. I am thinking much lower, like in the mid to high teens, ie 1500 to 1900 rpm. At least that was my first impression.
I also think I will have my transmission checked out and serviced just to know where I am now on it. Apparently there are two bolts under the shifter that can come loose, making shifting rougher. I would like to rule that out ASAP.
I have three additional questions.
1. Is there a downloadable source for the owner's manual or does anybody know a good place to buy them. The one on Ebay was close to $80, which seemed a little steep.
2. Has anybody had the wood dash kit installed on an older 9000? Is there an official brand that SAAB uses at the factory or are they all aftermarket options. If so, which one is the best?
3. I have a complicated stereo system in my car. It has a cassette unit at teh top and a single cd player underneath. I thiink both parts are made by clarion. In any case, the unit is locked and beeping as part of the antitheft system. The local saab mechanic said that I would need to hook the car up to a battery charger and turn the key to the accessory on positon and then leave the stereo on and beeping for 90 minutes before it would reset and I could enter the proper code, which I have now thanks to an overlooked business card in the center console. I had assumed it was just scribbles from a former owner until I looked more closely and saw that it said "Radio Code Green saab cse turbo." Is there any easier way to get the radio on? I don't have a battery charger and it could be days before I figure out where to get my hands on one for an hour and a half.
Thanks again for all of your help so far.
