on the 97 Aero 5 speed.
Best tanks [back to back] were a few years ago driving across Michigan and the UP on a trip - mostly two lane roads, cruising at 60 mph or so, light winds [but no tailwinds]: 33, 30, 35, and 32 mpg [US units]. And these are actual mpgs, not the optimistic EDU which seems to exaggerate by about 8% to 10%. So that makes the "max tank range": 630 w/ a half gallon reserve.
I am pretty hyper about all synthetic fluids and do change the plugs at 12k mi., use good tires, etc, but the only car mods are a K&N air filter and a less restrictive Fox SS exhaust [OEM diameter - 60mm?].
Re: the comments about the O2 fuel in VT: no, exactly the opposite, as most of you probably know, oxygenates [like ethanol] have LESS energy content than gasoline and cause a reduction in mileage [admittedly small in 10% concentrations, insane in E85]. Perhaps more to do with the similarities to the rural area of northern Mich we drove through: two lane roads, and lowered resulting speeds.
