Can't help you except to say there is no trick. There should be no rust as it is inside the engine so heat should not be necessary. The setup is the same on the intake and exhaust. I was able to use a 1/2" drive 14mm socket on my right with a 12" adjustable spanner on my left to loosen it.
Worst case scenario since the intake side is loose you should be able to take the chain off. Then you can remove all the cam bearings on the exhaust cam (remember the marking on the cam bearings and their orientation) to get the cam shaft and the cam sprocket as one unit to tackle it on the bench.
