all potential replacements for her aging 9K if we go the leasing route (see my previous post from last week: http://www.saabnet.com/tsn/bb/9000/index.html?bID=286609)
The suspects for today (with the criteria of having a hatch) were:
Subaru Impreza, Honda Fit, Honda Insight, Suzuki SX4 and VW Golf.
The Suby, VW and 'Zuki are still in the hunt. The Hondas are nice commuter rats, but not all-around cars by any means. They are buzzy on the highway, lack power (as I expected) and have mediocre road manners. And lousy cornering ability.
The Suby and VW were the best, the 'Zuki was decent, but being taller didn't seem as agile and is not quite in the same league. The Suby felt more Saab-like and the VW definitely had a German/autobahn feel. And it had the best seats, nicest shifting, crispest steering. (Vell, eet ist Das Auto from der Fatherland, after all, nein?)
Can lease any of the contenders for under $200/mo. Next trick is to have my daughter drive them when she comes home in a couple of weeks.
You guys have any thoughts on these beasts?
