When ignition is on, engine not running, pump does not turn off, period. BF and ABS lights have turned off in the first two seconds, and drip is continuous.
When engine starts, ABS and BF lights go out in one or two seconds. Upon brake application, BF light comes on right away, ABS a second later. If pedal is kept depressed, BF turns off within 2-3 seconds, follwed by ABS light. If pedal is pumped, lights come on again in sequence, and stay on as long as pumping continues. When pumping stops, both lights again go off as before.
HOWEVER, sometimes, while driving, both lights will come on, don't know in what order, and stay on, weather braking or not.
The drip continues as long as engine or just ignition is on, regardless of status of BF and ABS lights. I think the pump is on continuously.
When I stick my head into the wheel well (liner removed), I can see the pump and its motor, an almost horizontal cylindrical assembly
- diameter about about two inches and about 8" long. On its inboard and firewall end, I see, just peeking out, (and can feel by hand)
a box-like shape about 1" x 1/2" x 1/4" apparently part of the housing, long end vertical. The drip appears at bottom of this shape, which is also the lowest point of the pump assembly.
The fluid in the reservoir drops with the drip. Haven't seen it ever rise, though I might have missed this.
Sudden pump loss is a distict possibility, and no one but I is allowed to drive it.
