The automatic Aeros got the same engine as in the CSE models, meaning they do not use the TD-04 turbo.
I would consider a swap unnecessary and perhaps even a negative. Both transmissions are highly capable of spilling their guts on the highway in a cloud of fluid vapor and metal shrapnel. Automatics were indeed given the 200hp motor in hopes of delaying this moment.
Many people, however, have thrown caution to the wind and tuned the bejeezus out of their automatics, and apparently lived to tell the tale.
In my own opinion, though, 200 horsepower is nothing to sneeze at and a fully stock car will give you plenty of wrenching opportunities. So why tempt fate?
