First as derf says ground the wire that goes to the sender, that SHOULD give you an oil pressure light. Tells you if it's a bad bulb.
If you get a light on dash, then spring for a new sender, either locally or thru a site sponsor. It was less than $10, I think around $6, for one from the local "Big A" auto parts store for me.
And of course make sure enough oil and coolant.
But I'm also with SimonS: signs are to me the engine has probably got a serious problem, and could indeed be seizing, then freeing once cool.
On my car, the caught-on piston skirt would "grab" quite frequently when the engine was running, slowing it down seriously/almost stalling it, even with full oil and good oil pressure, once the damage was done.
