I have seen one other electrical failure on my 96 9000 that might be present on your car. There is a 6 AWG gauge wire from the positive battery terminal to the distribution block behind the battery tray. This wire can corrode internally over time and is rated to deliver 50 amperes to the ECU, ABS computer and distribution relays found under the passenger side dash.
One day this wire gave up the ghost and created a power distribution problem for me. My cruise control logic board saw weird voltage levels and cranked the throttle wide open at a stoplight. Naturally, I shut the ignition off, but subsequently I could not restart the car until I replaced this wire and the positive 4 AWG links to the starter and alternator. If the ECU does not have adequate current, the DI will not fire and the ignition and fuel relays shut down. This could be the source of your stalling issue. Check this wire out after you verify that there is no binding/lockup within the engine. Two feet of this wire will cost you six bucks at any auto parts store.
