Faulty Master or Dead Slave? (cylinder)

Is there any way to diagnose the difference between a failed clutch Master cylinder or a failed Slave cylinder?
I replaced my master cylinder 6-8 months ago with a Eeuroparts part. (Peddle went to the floor - no clutch actuation, peddle would not return to top: standard dead Master cylinder symptoms.)
Commuting home last night through city traffic; in 20 minutes, clutch went from fully functional to barely functional with the same symptoms as Master cylinder failure.
Could this be a faulty aftermarket Master or just the ultimate demise of the Slave at 145K? I bought the car used - as far as I know the clutch & slave are original.
Maybe wishful thinking on my part that it is just a fault Master (easy fix) vrs Slave (pull transmission & replace clutch as well)
thanks everyone!
