I've had the best luck with tight torx with my plugin 1/2' drive makita and high quality short bits from NAPA. Lean on it really hard and lightly blip the trigger. For lower intake manifold bolts 1/4" drive sockets and long extensions give a better feel for finding them and should be up to the job unless they're really tight. You may need to pull the temp sensor.
Up to you what you choose to replace. I just did ALL the brake lines on my rusty 89 toyota 4x4.
