I kind of abhor the Torx bolts on these cars in some locations - - valve cover being one of them.
Older C900s had hex head bolts there and if I ever spot one in a junkyard I'm pulling them all to do a swap over.
In the short term, I have pulled several of the T40 Torx from junkers to use if I mangle another of those in my valve cover. Only source I can suggest.
Torx need to be clean and they work best if the bit is tapped on a little to seat it down into the bolt.
A non-power tool way I handle them is, a top quality Torx bit, and a 3/8" drive breaker bar, and a hammer to use at start. Insert bit into bolt, breaker bar in place, and tap on breaker bar directly above bit just as you exert force. Cracks them free without much trouble, and keeps the bit from jumping up out and stripping.
It might even work to free your stripped ones. Another suggestion is, if that doesn't work, msybe you can get a little hole started near outer edge of the screw head, then put a nail set in it and drive it counterclockwise, kind of dialing the bolt out. They always turn easy once started, never any corrosion on valve cover bolts.
I don't quite get Torx. I have NEVER had a hex head strip on any bolt; Torx are near their torque-carrying design limit on some of the applications Saab used them for. Add a little dirt, or rust away a little of the metal, and forget it. Worse than the valve cover bolts are the oil pan bolts on the 9000s. A totally inappropriate fastener if removal is part of the design equation.
