Larger Sets of stuff are budget friendlier Posted by Bill Homer [Email] (#3427) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Bill Homer) on Sat, 6 Oct 2012 16:00:20 In Reply to: Sets of stuff are budget friendly, Noel, Sat, 6 Oct 2012 15:24:49 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
One of the first purchases I made as a working adult with a real job was a full set of good metric tools (150 pieces?) in a metal box from Sears (Craftsman brand), i.e. three socket wrench handles, sockets, combination wrenches, screwdrivers, etc. It seemed like overkill at the time, but 33 years later I have to say that I have used every single tool at least once and certainly have added to the collection significantly over the years.
One immediate addition needed for 9000 owners is a 16mm (or 5/8") 1/2" drive socket and combination wrench, as that size is lacking in most sets. There is also one 18mm nut (oddball size) requiring a combination wrench on the front rear control arm bushing. Do not crawl under the car unless it is supported on good jack stands, get a floor jack to boost it.
And a box of band-aids for skinned knuckles until you learn not to do this!
