If the sensor is broken or there is a break in the cable the engine will not start. Yours might be right on the ragged edge of failing.
The CPS sensor's resistance is 540 +- 55 ohms. If yours looks good, then see what happens to the resistance when you move the cable around.
What was the misfire code they pulled?
