Vibration is easier to resolve Posted by sam96CS [Email] (#852) [Profile/Gallery] (more from sam96CS) on Sat, 8 Mar 2014 12:24:13 In Reply to: Re: Why do you think that a 9000 kills a battery in 3 years, Bill Homer [Profile/Gallery] , Sat, 8 Mar 2014 10:22:41 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Vibration is the #2 suspect. A distant 2nd to heat I think. But vibration is easier to treat thanks to motorcycles which have a bigger problem with vibration. We can buy for dirt cheap 1/8" thick low density neoprene pads, Drag Specialties part number 2113-0077 which are designed specifically to reduce vibration to a motorcycle battery. The 5" x 8" pads have a sticky side and can be cut to fit. If the pad gives a Harley battery a gentler ride then surely a Saab 9000 battery will also benefit.
I haven't tried the pads, but they're so cheap I wouldn't feel bad if they have no noticeable impact on battery life.
