I remember back in ’85 or ’86 when a fellow SAABer's engine ('85 16v turbo) seized up at around 75,000 miles. Reason: he never changed the break-in oil! SAAB gave him a brand new engine for free! That was good advertising of the strength of SAAB engines. My point is, you can put in whatever oil you want, but don't claim that it's the best for SAAB engines. Any correctly spec'd oil, mineral or synthetic works. You can get away with putting non-approved oil in it for as long as you like. These engine can handle it if you keep the oil clean. However, in the long run, that's a different story.
