A Speed Sensor fault could affect the boost. The ECU uses a combination of the vehicle speed and engine rotational speed, i.e. RPMs, to figure out what gear the car is in. The ECU limits boost in first and second gears to preserve the transmission, and I would assume that if it is unsure of the speed signal that it would cut to base boost.
Salzburg is an incredibly beautiful part of the world! We used to try to schedule our work there for wintertime so we could go skiing on weekends!
