Machine shop took the cylinder head and gave it a clean bill of health.
Replaced the one burnt exhaust valve in cylinder 2, and the good one as well, since I had supplied two. Valves ‘bead blasted’. All valve seats ‘dialed’ fine. They ‘touched’ the exhaust seats for the two new valves.
Mating surface was found to be flat. All valve stem guides in very good (like new) condition.
Even the valve guide seals were found to be ‘pliable’, not old and cracked, but replaced with new, nevertheless.
I will reinstall, and hope for the best.
As for high oil consumption, I will be monitoring clisely, and maybe pulling plugs after a few hundred miles to see what story they might tell.
