Yes, part of a bigger job... headgasket, timing chain, etc.. Sorry skibumm, I feel like I've high-jacked your thread.
this is on my '95 Aero w/ ~128k mi
Started with finding some oil in my coolant. Knowing I'd be removing the chain tensioner for a head gasket, I checked its travel early and found that it was at 20mm - nearly end of travel. So the job kept growing.
Its currently fully disassembled and cleaned, starting reassembly today.
BTW, I haven't searched thoroughly - but is there a tensioner extension distance/spec for the balance chain? That one was ~17mm extended (https://photos.app.goo.gl/tZQWk1UYm2xJC8QP6) and I'm leaning towards leaving the balance chain out when I reassemble.
Both chains had way more stretch than I would have expected for only 128k miles. I just bought the car last year and do know that it wasn't maintained properly.
