I would certainly get another opinion. The head gasket on that is not too terribly difficult. Just find a mechanic that is certain he can do the job. I would definitely not drive it. If the head gaskets been leaking for a while definitely make sure they check the head and make sure it's not cracked. I would definitely take it to a Saab mechanic if you can. Have them check the balance shaft sprockets and make sure that those are not worn. Probably a good idea to replace the timing chain guides and balance shaft guides.if you do those things you're probably good for another hundred thousand miles. Good luck.
