Get another opinion - head gaskets on these are simple. Only real problem is exhaust manifold studs breaking. Have the head checked for flatness - clean-up mill only if needed. Same for valves. Clean up, but do not mill unless absolutely necessary. I've done a quick & dirty head gasket change in a day (no head work, exhaust studs got lucky on).
At 98,000, I wouldn't concern myself with chain stretch / balance shaft issues. Only really two things to be very careful of: 1) When removing and re-installing head, be careful not to break the plastic timing chain guides. If you do, this involves a whole additional level of work to remove the timing cover, and replace the guides. 2) Timing - getting the marks set correctly, and the correct number of links between marks on the cams can be confusing. Easy, but confusing. Do your research. Take pictures - lots of pictures.
