There is a electrical connector plug down there by the shift linkage that plugs into the top of the transmissions speedometer gear if that plug is undone or those wires are cut it will not work. That happened to me once a wire came out of the plug I had to put a new plug on.what you're looking for is by the shift linkage there's a 10 mm bolt on top or a torx screw on top if you remove that that whole entire gear comes out and then you can replace the o-ring that's on it. That should fix it.if it doesn't sometimes the gear down inside the transmission can be broke that involves a complete disassemble to get to that gear.
