What you're seeing on the compressor is most likely the wiring for the electromagnetic clutch coil. The 9000 uses a fairly old style compressor that does not have variable displacement, built-in sensors, or a control valve; the only wire going into it is for the clutch.



It's possible you have a problem with the electronics controlling the AC. Is anything else shutting off when that happens like the EDU display and instruments? If the EDU cuts out so does the air conditioning among other things. I had that problem a few years ago and fixed it by reflowing solder joints on the EDU connector. Other than that you'd probably need a Tech2 to diagnose the electronics.

It's also possible that you are low on refrigerant. It might be low enough that after running for a little while the low side drops down and trips the low pressure safety cutoff to protect the compressor. To check that the AC system pressures would need to be monitored with a manifold gauge set.
