I will echo the other voices of reason. If you car is a rust free 9000, park it. If you miss your 9000 so much that you can't live without it, buy a beater 9000. I have three. (2) 97 CSE's and 96 Aero 5-spd. My wife drives one year-round. (It used to look good) I am trying to resurrect my other 97 CSE for winter duty. My 96 Aero got wrecked by an uninsured driver back in April, but it's still in the driveway. Trying to decide if I want to sacrifice one of the 97's to turn it into a donor to fix the clapped out Aero. All three are well over 200K. The Aero is the best driver but also the most rotten. It's a Maine car. The other (2) were Mass/NH cars. All are rotten. 9000's are great snow cars but they do rot out pretty badly. Rear shock towers take a beating. Wheel wells, fender lip trim traps sand and salt. The Aero's are the worst for that.
If you're coming to Michigan I will give you one piece of advice that may sway you. There are a lot of cars driving around here without license plates and a lot of uninsured driver's. If you drive it in the winter, don't be surprised if it gets run into. If they have no insurance and you don't carry comp and collision, you're stuck holding the bag. I usually don't carry comp and collision on most of my vehicles because they aren't worth much on KBB. I may change that after my Aero got hit by an uninsured driver. I am going to have to pay someone to come to my house to do an estimate so I can file a mini-tort to get some money for it. Good luck!
