Saab did a good rust protection sealing job,
but the underseal goop does crack and leak... after 25 ! years.
At which point Salt water ingress/rust becomes a Serious concern.
Also Note ! that the inner rear panels .. Rot out.. regardless of rust belt issues, this from seal leaks originating.. Under.. those two Black hatch Vent things.
True And documented. Even on mine which otherwise has ZERO rust anywhere else.. grr
Biggish Job to remove and re-seal And renew the rotting metal panel bits. This involves fresh seals/hold downs (Orio can supply) Removing the vents is Not a trivial task as the mounts get broken in the removal , unavoidably.
It's a surprisingly complex setup, involving drip trays and drainage hoses. Saab went to a Lot of trouble to ensure proper water protection drainage for those vents.
But seals/rubber bits do age out.
Just a heads up.
