Larry,
Tried this in a 79 900 B engine, crank does hit and it can't be done. Not sure if the crank sticks out of the B motor further or the guts on the 37 are slightly bigger, guessing it's the 37 as a 5 speed will work on a B motor. We ended up converting the car to a non apc turbo, more fun anyway and I had to get it running as it was our shop car. By the way, easy conversion as it was a 49 state NA no lambda and no converter. Passed emissions every year with no problem.
