D-jet hard start
Posted by Duncan Atwood [Email] (more from Duncan Atwood) on Thu, 26 Jun 2014 08:29:33
My otherwise excellent triumph-motored 1970 99e is having a starting issue. Until recently, cranking for 5 seconds at the most would start it when cold, and warm, it would need 2-3 seconds of cranking. Those were the happy days... Now it's as if the cold start valve doesn't work, or there is no initial squirt to get it going. Up to 7 times 5-7 seconds of cranking required when cold, as many as 10 when hot. Ignition freshly tuned. Once running, it runs great - good power (for a bored-out 1.7l).
Is the cold start injector part of the starting protocol even when it's warmer than 32F? The manual says no. I have spares, could test the current one. Suggestions? Many thanks.
