The semi-liquid that came out was probably so depleted of any lubricating ability - who knows what it started out to be. With 300+ degrees recorded in the trans you can figure the inner drivers can get almost as hot. It is common to find that the inner drivers lose their lube, and go dry. My guess is that the lube breaks down to almost liquid and escapes. I am running Redline syn grease - which I read as being CV and bearing compatible - and very capable of higher temps. I figure that with heat and high rotational speeds it can seem pretty heavy when installed, but gets pretty 'flowable' inuse.
