Saabpilot, I would suggest you start with a tank drain and filter replacement. When you drain the tank, make sure your catch basin (whatever you use) is completely clean. This will give you an indication of your actual inner tank condition. If it just comes out dark, but without rust scales, your probably going to be OK. Take the old gas filter out, then use a hacksaw to cut it in half. This will tell a lot as well. Don't jump to drop the tank, until you've done some investigation work. When a filter is dirty from normal usage, then allowed to dry up, as gas is introduced to it years later, the filter fibers can breakdown causing the filter itself to be the source of flow restriction. That can only be determinded with the hacksaw and a judgment call. You may get lucky. By the way...that car is coming from my neck of the woods...I guess I'm slipping. That one got by me. Best of luck.
