Hi Bob. Just thought I'd chime in here. I just finished putting a 16V turbo in my '76 2 door and though I did move the firewall a bit, I didn't move it much. My front mount is a modification of the steel mount that bolts on to the front of the three gear front 4 sp. tranny that was in the car. I have a 5 speed in there now. I cut off the 900 mount, welded on a plate and then fabricated extensions to allow bolting the "duckbill" to the front. Of course the easiest way is to take the front off a 4 speed (or 5 I suppose) with the bill cast into the front. I didn't want to disable a good 4 speed so went the route I did. Some change the side mounts out for 900 mounts and that does make the passenger side easier to do...if you try and keep the same 99 mounts, the 16 valve support bracket will not work on that side. again, I modified a bracket I had from an 81 900. The harmonic balancer is a two pulley version from an 83 900. The part that inserts into the engine is longer on the 8 valves compared to the 16 valves so I had that machined to the 16 valve depth specs. I kept the alternater in the original 16 valve spot but had to push back the vacuum booster...were I to do it again, I would mount it where the a/c normally goes. I did lower the front mount a bit to make more room for the alternator (and subsequently for the water pump as well) but there really isn't that much play before the transmission hits the engine bay floor.
Good luck. It was worth it.
Dan
