The main seal can be replaced in the car, but it is adviseable to get the special tool to replace it. I can post a link to a pic of the tool if you need to see what it looks like. The motor to tranny gasket can be replaced if you ever decide to pull the engine and tranny. Saabs don't leak oil...they mark their territory!
The fuel system can be "hot-wired" so you can flush your injectors...a simple procedure that I can post info for when the time comes that you need it.
Rust....you can grind it and apply a few products to slow it down...Extend or POR15 are the recommended products, though POR15 is still in the test stages with me.
We have a variety of sources for parts on-line...if you post what you are looking for, we can provide links to our sources.
Scour ebay and get the "orange book", the Saab factory manual for 75-80 99's. Mine has a section just for the turbos. All of the other info is relative to 99's in that year range.
I have read the odometer problem may be a cracked gear, but since it is plastic, fixing it is not so reliable. Replacement odometer/speedometer units are not hard to come by(I think I have 6 or 7 in the basement). Ebay is a good source for one.
Damn!...6am...I should be in bed!
