Bob, Doug's recently publicised sale is about the absolute maximum you could expect to get for a 99 sale. All selling conditions would also have to be perfect. The Old Cars Price Guide values my '74 EMS at $6800 in mint shape. Is that a fair value for the price? I would say yes. Anything higher would have to be considered on a case to case situation on a paticular car and buyer's needs. My other 99 is a '72 SSE. A car that is admittedly, quite offensive to most eyes. However, I only know of one other surviving example, so what sort of value could be placed on that? It all depends on the buyer. I can tell you I have had a few good offers for the SSE through the years.I've been thinking of selling it more and more lately, and I won't be looking for tons of money for it, but I can assure you I'll get a lot more than you think I would if I do sell it. If you choose to pass up so many nice condition cars, and declare your opinion of value correct, how do you explain Doug's recent sale price? Remember, as nice as Doug's car was, it had one of those "factory" dealor installed sunroofs, and still brought that price! Also, that buyer got a car well worth every penny paid! Perhaps the market is changing. I have seen the 99 selling prices increase in recent years. Saaber's are just simply realizing that 99's are a hell of a lot better car that the watered down 900's. If your advising that guy about 99's, why'd you steer him to that electric waterpump piece of crap?
