Well, I've done a little diagnostic checking have a really good theory on what is going on with this car...
Okay.. the front left caliper is dragging (after use), even after replacing the caliper and bleeding it many many times. The front right one never seems to drag. Also the rear left one doesn't seem to drag. Which brings me to...
The rear right one.. This caliper has never worked correctly. Of the two pistons that push out the brake pads, the one on the outer side does not do anything.. In fact, there's a worn out pad on that side that is just rattling around loose. The rotor is also pretty rusty on the outer side, seeing as no brake pad has touched it in years. The inboard piston is pushing out a pad, but not too much.. This caliper also heats up, but not as much as the front left one.
So, my theory is this. If the rear right one is basically half-siezed, then when I apply the brakes, if it is a diagonal system, then I am actually sending more brake fluid to the front left one, which might cause it to drag after use. I am thinking if I get some properly working calipers on the back, then maybe my problem with the front will disappear, and I won't even have to rebuild the master cylinder or replace the flexible lines. Seeing as on the right rear, one piston works and one doesn't, I think I can rule out a problem with the lines.
And I compared my m72 rear calipers with an m85 900.. They're the same! Except (I think) the threads to the incoming brake line
I saw someone mention on the BB about adaptors from SAE (?) to metric. Any information on where to get these would be appreciated, though I will look thorough the back messages to see if they mention where to get them.
