The car is a previously restored 69 Sonett V4 with a "smooth-case" transmission in it. I posted to this site because of the transmission (not cross-posted). Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't believe these transmissions were original equipment in 69 Sonetts.
Thanks for the "test plan". I've already felt around after a drive test, and the only thing noticeable was that the tranny was slightly warmer at the passenger side CV/bearing. Nothing conclusive. If it comes to that, does anyone have suggestions as to where I could find a rebuilt transmission these days (I'd prefer not to rebuild this one if it needs major work). I also have a reinforced-case "parts-car" transmission of unknown condition I might send for a rebuild.
